The Okaloosa Courthouse just held its ribbon cutting ceremony to a crowd of about 250 people. Although previously relocated employees have not moved into the new facility the first case is scheduled for January 2nd.

Ajax Building Corporation of Georgia has just been awarded the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center expansion in Canton, GA. We will be teaming up Studio 8 Design for the architecture and engineering. The current detention facility was completed in 2002, but the jail with only 96 beds dates back 30 plus years.

The students of Monroe County started back to school earlier this month. However, the students of Gerald Adams Elementary School will get a second first day of school as they will be moving into their new facility by Christmas break.

Despite the recent rainy weather setbacks, construction of the new Okaloosa County Courthouse will be completed by the end of this month. It will be closer to October before the new courthouse will be 100% operational as it will take some time for county administrative offices to move into their new space.

The Florida Trust for Historic Preservation recently held their 2018 Preservation Awards and the UF Newell Hall project received a Meritorious Achievement in the Green Buildings category. Newell Hall is the third oldest building on UF's campus and had previously been vacant since 2012.

Students turned the courtyard of Oglesby Union into an impromptu block party, vendors welcomed new customers and a food truck fed the hungry Wednesday as the countdown continues to the closing of the iconic structure at Florida State University. On May 7, prep work begins toward construction of a nearly 300,000-square-foot union complex that could cost roughly $100 million.
