Putnam County Palatka Primary School
The Putnam School District, in partnership with Ajax Building Company, is undertaking the replacement of the existing Kelley Smith Elementary School facility. This project encompasses the design and construction of a new, state-of-the-art campus on newly procured land, followed by the demolition of the majority of the existing facility.
The new school is designed to accommodate a total site capacity of 1,055 students and includes 1,054 total student stations, of which 922 are newly constructed stations. The primary focus of this project is to execute a successful multi-year, multi-phase construction plan while minimizing disruption to the academic environment.
Location and Site Strategy
The new construction will commence on the recently acquired 5.5 acres of property located immediately south of the currently occupied Kelley Smith Elementary School site. The overall project utilizes this new land for initial construction, leveraging the adjacency to the existing campus for a seamless transition.
Construction Phasing and Schedule
The project timeline is structured around two critical school years, requiring meticulous scheduling and coordination to ensure student and faculty safety and continuous educational delivery. The overall project duration is scheduled to Start at the beginning of 2026 with a non-negotiable Completion Date of July 2027.
