Volusia County School Break Ground on the brand new Beachside Elementary
“Volusia County Schools officially celebrated the construction start for the new Beachside Elementary School – consolidating Ortona and Osceola elementary schools – with a groundbreaking ceremony Monday morning. The two 1950s-era schools are being combined into a single, modern school campus at Ortona’s site on North Grandview and North Halifax avenues in Daytona Beach. The new facility was designed by BRPH and will be built by Ajax Construction with opening scheduled in late 2022.During construction, Beachside Elementary students, teachers, and staff will be housed at the nearby Osceola site in Ormond Beach. The new Beachside Elementary School will serve up to 765 students in 95,000 square feet of educational space to include a two-story classroom building, separate buildings for art, music, and the cafeteria, 115 parking spots, and an outdoor learning space with two playgrounds, courts, and a covered play area. The infrastructure will support upgraded technology and enhanced security. One existing building on the site will remain for use with the new structures.” -Volusia County Schools Newsroom
