RIBBON CUTTING CELEBRATES PUTNAM COUNTY JAIL EXPANSION
Public Invited To Tour Completed Project Friday
WHAT
Local and federal officials will cut the ribbon Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, to mark the opening of the $16 million long-awaited Putnam County Jail Expansion. The completed project includes two pods — each containing 224 beds — as well as an expanded kitchen, a new medical and program facility, and parking lots to ease traffic flow.
Sheriff Jeff Hardy, U.S. Department of Agriculture State Director Richard Machek, Putnam County Commission Chair Chip Laibl and Commissioner Karl Flagg, will speak about the project, which took a year to complete.
In cutting the ribbon, they will be joined by Vice County Commissioner Walton Pellicer, County Commissioner Karl Flagg, County Commissioner Nancy Harris, County Commissioner Larry Harvey, County Administrator Rick Leary, Former County Commissioner Kenny Eubanks, USDA Community Programs Director Michael Langston and USDA Area Director Stephanie Hodges. Architect Joe Mrak with RQAW, Bill Byrne and Jay Smith with Ajax Building Corporation and Terry Turner with Armstrong Contracting additionally will cut the ceremonial ribbon.
