City of Tallahassee New Police Headquarters
The new Tallahassee Police Department Headquarters will replace the existing facility, which has been occupied since 1972 and steadily outgrown. In addition to construction, Ajax is responsible for guiding the overall site selection process for the City and guiding the Design Team through a series of community meetings to determine the final location. With an anticipated area of approximately 170,000sf and anticipated construction cost of $76M, the new facility will be a state of the art public safety campus built to satisfy the Department needs well into the future.
This is an exciting multi-generational project which has an estimated construction cost of $76,000,000. In addition to the much needed replacement, this project will greatly benefit the community. Ajax Vice President, Jay Smith, says, “My firm has had the privilege of working around the Southeastern U.S. and witnessed the benefits of reaching out to the disadvantaged and disenfranchised by offering apprenticeships and/or assistance in workforce re-entry. Specifically, we had great success engaging both “disadvantaged” and “apprentice” workers on the new $62-million city of St. Petersburg Police Department Headquarters We plan to offer that same kind of assistance here in Tallahassee by implementing the Ajax Disadvantaged and Apprentice Workers Program for the Public Safety Campus project.” We are using Talent Hub (https://www.talenthub2030.com/homeGo to https://www.talenthub2030.com/home?fbclid=IwAR0Zpz_lRNZitHF_DKKTNabLmiPu-nMXD27k9FVADf3co0x_dHzNQHkTNGs) currently right now to connect employees with the subcontractors on this project.
