Pinellas County Schools Northeast High School Renovations
Northeast High School was a challenging but rewarding project that initially consisted of renovating three (3) buildings on campus and waterproofing the pre-cast concrete grandstands at the football stadium. As the project approached completion the Owner requested to renovate a fourth building on campus. Each building had its own unique use, the first building was Building 2 (Auditorium) where we extended the front lobby with new storefront windows and doors and renovated the group restrooms. Outside of the lobby we constructed a 1600SF translucent canopy structure to provide a grand entry for the patrons. Additional we re-roofed the entire building. Inside the auditorium we removed all of the seating and flooring and installed new seats with tablet arms and epoxy sealed the concrete floors. New acoustical sound panels were installed throughout as well as a new acoustical ceilings with LED lights that were connected to the stage lighting control system for dimming purposes, finally new HVAC equipment was installed. The second building we renovated was Building 17, a classroom building consisting of 24 classrooms. The work associated with this building started with a complete gut, all existing ceiling, flooring, HVAC equipment, lighting and the roof were removed.
A new roofing system was installed, all new flooring, acoustical ceilings, LED lights, roller shades, casework and new Vertical Fan Coil HVAC Units were installed in every classroom with the associated ductwork and chilled water piping. The third building renovated on campus was Building 26, the Media Center, similar to the classrooms once interior demolition as complete new flooring, acoustical ceilings, casework and LED lights were installed. The fourth and final building, added via Owner Change Order, was Building 23, the Skills Lab, here we converted just over 4000 SF of old automotive labs to new skills labs for 3D printing and CNC machines, we also installed a new roofing system on the building. The existing pre-cast grandstands at the football stadium had never been sealed and were leaking badly into the locker room spaces below. We installed a high performance and durable traffic coating over the complete seating area as well as on all of the stairs to create an impenetrable barrier to ensure the locker rooms would stay dry. The work consisted of complete removal and re-installation of the aluminum benches once the traffic coating was applied.
