Pinellas County Schools Bardmoor Elementary School Renovations
This project consisted of extensive renovation work being done in five (5) phases to existing occupied Building 1. Overall, the program included selective demolition, new interior walls, doors and hardware, casework, new electrical, LED lighting, low voltage systems, mechanical system modifications, complete fire protection system, restroom and plumbing additions/modifications, new ceilings, clerestory window installations, interior paint, new ceilings, and related building accessories.
The project was broken in five sequential phases due to the district’s decision to limit the project to the use of 8 multipurpose portables. This required special considerations for new systems and how they temporarily interfaced with the old systems (i.e. fire alarm, intercom, lighting controls, fire sprinkler). This required close coordination with the design team and the school staff.
This constantly changing process required development of a new campus safety plan for each phase as the point of entry for workers and material changed in order to maintain complete separation of student/staff and workers.
