College of Coastal Georgia Campus Center
The Campus Center project was one of the first steps in transitioning CCG from a commuter based campus to a blended campus that accommodates both residential and commuter students. This project was developed at the center of the campus and provides the heartbeat of activity necessary for maintaining both daytime and nighttime campus life. The state-of-the-art Campus Center is approximately 50,000 square-feet with food, health and recreation services, a bookstore, student organizations and activities, and a theater.
The project, originally projected as a 12 month construction phase duration, was delayed by one month due to delayed bond sales, and could not begin until August 2010. Determined to meet the original completion dates, Ajax using their demonstrated construction experience and subcontractor management skills, shortened the overall schedule to only 11 months, forecasting completion in July 2011. This all the while incorporating additional scope of work requested by USG-BOR.
The Food Service element included comprehensive kitchen equipment/food preparation and pod concept serving areas that provide s a full range of dietary selections that meet the need for today’s discriminating student/consumer.
