The current 69,756 SF Okeechobee County Jail, originally constructed in 1986, needs several upgrades and two brand-new housing pods. The jail as it is now has a 232 bed capacity between two housing pods which will receive their own upgrades/renovations, and the new pods will each house an additional 224 beds.
