Ceco Building Systems, 2020 Building of the Year – Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus of Pasco County
We’re excited to announce that the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus of Pasco County has won the Ceco Building Systems 2020 Building of the Year. This facility consists of a new 100,000 SF PEMB indoor sports arena with 230’ clear span and 70,000 SF of wood flooring for the primary use of volleyball, basketball, dance, cheerleading, and other indoor sports. The 70,000 SF hardwood floor area is able to accommodate eight (8) full size basketball courts which can convert to sixteen (16) volleyball courts, as well as dedicated cheerleading and gymnastics area, a multipurpose area, 360 degree viewing mezzanine, fitness center, team meeting and coach’s area, sports medicine office, quick service food and beverage, an event lawn (equivalent to two official soccer fields), maintenance facilities and parking areas. This project also involved 80 acres of heavy civil improvements to a previously unoccupied property, 12 retention ponds and water, storm, sewer and reclaim infrastructure for the project’s main building as well as future expansion.
Special features include a 230ft span PEMB (provided by subcontractor 7-M ConstructionGo to https://sevenmconstruction.com/) which required three (3) cranes to install; two (2) to hold up the main bents and one (1) to raise the purlins. There is also immense overhead sports equipment, all electrically powered to move up and down independently to any customization of sports events at each gym.
From Ceco Building Systems: This remarkable recreation structure is located in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This sports complex is the largest athletic facility in Pasco County. The center provides air-conditioned space for many activities including basketball, wrestling, volleyball and competitive cheerleading. The building’s square footage is 87,890 sq. ft:
- It is a clear span building, with double-slope with tapered columns
- CF Mesa wall panels in Almond, Medium Bronze and Regal Blue
- Double-Lok roof panels in Midnight Bronze were used
