Pinellas County Schools Classroom Additions
The Pinellas County Schools Classroom Additions project consisted of additions and renovations to four different schools. The projects included a new 10 classroom building on each campus. Each building was a prototype design which contained 10 classrooms, approximately 17,000 square feet each. Each classroom shares two unisex toilets and a teacher’s planning room. Extensive recycling measures were taken for each of these projects. This resulted in an impressive cost savings for the projects. Ajax recycled 924 tons of concrete and 31 tons of metal that, had we taken this material to the landfill, would have cost an additional $38,767. Instead, the project was actually credited $4,117 for the recycled metal and the concrete was taken for free. The details of the classrooms projects are below:
Skyview Elementary School – Renovations & Additions
Prototype design which contained 10 classrooms, 17,000 SF.
2-Story, masonry walls, hollow core 2nd floor with a concrete topping and metal roof joists.
Stucco exterior with brick entrance – matches the existing campus.
Includes stand alone chiller servicing the buildings.
New roofs
Ponce de Leon Elementary School – Renovations & Additions
Prototype design which contained 10 classrooms, 17,000 SF.
2-Story, masonry walls, hollow core 2nd floor with a concrete topping and metal roof joists.
Stucco exterior with brick entrance – matches the existing campus.
Includes tie into the existing campus chiller system.
New roofs & electrical service
Oakhurst Elementary School – Additions
Prototype design which contained 10 classrooms, 17,000 SF.

Leila Davis Elementary School – Additions
