University of Florida Health Congenital Heart Center
This was a complete demolition and renovation of approximately 18,000 SF of the 10th floor of the north campus tower. The area is a replica of the 8-2 Neurosurgical Unit that was completed in 2007. In addition, the project included a new generator and HVAC work.
The area served as executive office suites and was completely renovated to house 23 private intensive care patient rooms as well as a nurse’s charting station for each pair of rooms and several support rooms.
This work involved the use of a personnel and material hoist serving the 9th and 10th floors, and the roof, as well as a pair of swing stages over 60’ in length that carries workers to the exterior of the 10th floor to perform demolition and construction on the exterior shell of the 10th floor. This provided a construction area with complete isolation from the remaining hospital population, limiting exposure of the construction process to patients, staff and visitors.
