University of Florida Health Shands IT Infrastructure Tower

This project consisted of a 12 Floor vertical addition located on the north side of Building A01. The footprint infilled the alcove approx. 20’ x 20’. The foundations at the first floor are -30’. This resulted in the addition of IT rooms for each of the 11 occupied floors and is located on the north side of section 5.

Each level has door access to the IT/Data space which is a shell space with all the infrastructure for a separate owner/ vendor to install IT/Data equipment to serve the hospital. The exterior was clad with metal wall panels and new UPS Systems (Mitsubishi Model 900 AEGIS) were installed.

This project was a very difficult logistics challenge with location of the tower structure prevented any access to it for equipment or materials. Everything had to be flown in and out by tower crane which was located adjacent to the hospital loading dock on one side and the baby gator day care on the other side.
