Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Cuts the Ribbon on New Evidence Storage Facility

Today the Volusia County Council, Sheriff Mike Chitwood, members of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Ajax Building Corporation, and SchenkelShultz Architecture cut the ribbon on the brand new 35,000 SF evidence storage facility. This facility replaces one that was originally built in the 1930’s, one that the county had far outgrown. This roughly $13 million project had been in the works for years, with plans starting under former Sheriff Ben Johnson and finally reaching completion under Sheriff Chitwood. Volusia County Sheriff’s Office will now be able to house more than 200,000 pieces of evidence.
