PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Ajax began construction on the 146,000 sf, new Lake County Windy Hill Middle School in September of 1998. The concrete block and brick constructed building was opened to students in the Fall of 1999.

The site is comprised of 8 buildings, an athletic field, softball field, basketball and tennis courts, and a bus loop with applicable parking. Four of he buildings consist of classrooms for grades 6 through 8. There is also a music room, 6 scientific laboratories, 8 classrooms for gifted students, a cafeteria/auditorium, a gymnasium, central media center with a control room and Closed Circuit TV Production studio, and administrative areas.

The project was fast tracked, guaranteeing an 11 month construction schedule, versus a 16 month normal schedule. The school is now home to approximately 850 middle school students, with a maximum capacity of 1,150 students.
