PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Marion Oaks Middle School project consists of all new construction on a currently wooded 43 acre site located in the Marion Oaks Development southwest of Ocala, Florida.
The project consists of 3 two story classroom buildings, and a single story building containing a library, gymnasium, cafetorium, and administration offices. Building 1 is designated a Hurricane Shelter by the EHPA. The surrounding site includes 3 drainage retention areas, staff parking, bus drop off, ball field, track, green house, and a covered play area. All classroom/ administration buildings are of masonry & concrete tie beam construction with brick veneer. The second level of the two story buildings is constructed of steel beams supporting a metal deck with concrete decking. Total square footage is approximately 177,358. Roofing is constructed of metal deck, and lightweight concrete, with a modified bituminous roofing system, supported by steel joists below.
