PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project consistd of a $3 million, 10 classroom, 16,000 s.f. addition to the existing Challenger K8 School of Science and Mathematics. Ajax Building Corporation's success and knowledge with the original project made it an logical and smooth transition for all parties involved. The addition has help to expand the curriculum offered to the students of Challenger K8 and provides Hernando County Schools maximum facility functionality while meeting the legislative requirements of the class size amendment.

The two story, ten classroom addition to the Challenger K8 School achieved Substantial Completion on August 4, 2006. The August 4th date was 11 days ahead of the Contractual Substantial Completion date of August 15. With classes resuming on the 10th of August, the Ajax project team worked in conjunction with Challenger staff and Hernando County Schools to ensure as smooth of a transition as possible.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of all parties involved, the addition not only was available to students on the first day of classes but hosted an Open House for teachers, parents, and students on August 9.
