PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Awarded to Ajax Building Corporation in April 1997, Canopy Oaks Elementary is the first ever construction management contract undertaken by the Leon County School Board. The 90,019 sf facility consists of 6 main buildings, 36 classrooms, 3 playgrounds, a media center, and a cafeteria with a seating capacity of 500.

Canopy Oaks boasts 100 Macintosh G3 computers and a lab containing 30 more. Each classroom is equipped with at least two computers providing Internet access for instruction and research.

Completed ahead of schedule in July 1998, Tallahassee's newest elementary school has a student capacity of 886, with approximately 540 students expected during the first year.
