PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Carol and Frank Morsani Center for Advanced Healthcare will combine world-class health care with a state of the art building designed to facilitate learning in health teams. In 2006, Ajax started work on the Utility Infrastructures for the new 6-story, 194,000 SF Patient Care Medical Facility. The building is named for Frank and Carol Morsani for their longtime support of USF. It is located on the northeast corner of West Holly and Magnolia, the primary gateway to the USF Health quadrant of the USF Tampa Campus.

The facility will initially house the following major components: Diagnostic imaging (fully digital) MRI, CT, women's diagnostics with mammography, ultrasound and and bone densitometry, fluoroscopy, basic X-ray, nuclear medicine; Ambulatory surgery/procedure center, including eight operating rooms and five endoscopy suites; Outpatient facilities, including 60 clinic exam rooms; Patient support areas and patient administrative services; Clinical and translational research; Patient Outreach and Education Center; Sweetbay Pharmacy conveniently located on the 1st floor. Expected clinical space includes: Brain Health, including Neurosurgery, Neurology and Psychiatry, Digestive Disorders, ENT, Sports Medicine and Women's Health.

The largest concrete pour in Ajax history took place November 17, 2006 at the USF Morsani Center jobsite. The pour lasted for 13 hours and involved 400 tons of rebar steel and 65 concrete trucks, equaling approximately 5,000 cubic yards of concrete. This Mat Foundation is 34,000 sq. feet and roughly 5 feet deep.

CURRENT STATUS (7/1/08):
The USF CAHC building is now coming down the "home stretch." The June 23rd AHCA and SFM inspections were a success. In order for the USF CAHC building to receive a "Bed Memo" for licensing the some additional information must be sent for review. The electrical inspector will return the week of 7/14/08 to confirm the remainder of the minor items have been corrected. The architect and engineer have released the third floor punch lists and work has begun correcting this list. Punch lists are expected for the second and first floor on 7/2/08. USF has also begun the delivery of furniture, installation of all furniture will be complete by 7/16/08. Owner supplied equipment deliveries are taking place daily and are being coordinated between USF, Ajax, and equipment suppliers. GE X-Rays, CT Scans, and MRI units are 90% complete. On the first floor is The Camille’s Sidewalk Café', in this area underground plumbing is complete and electrical rough in is proceeding. Installation of Pebble-Tec pool finish will begin as soon as exterior metal panels are complete. Also on the exterior of the building all lawns and plants have been installed. With the ACHA inspection complete the focus has also shifted to completing the pedestrian bridge. Currently, subs have been released to begin working on shop drawings.
