PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Robert E. Lee High School Project is a $29.5 million dollar historic renovation and addition to one of Duval County Public Schools oldest schools which will remain an occupied campus throughout the entirety of the project. This project will be phased and consist of 110,000 SF of historic renovation and 35,000 SF of additional new space. As part of this work, Ajax will provide temporary modular facilities for the displaced students and staff, until the renovation is complete. This project, upon completion, will be the 2nd LEED Certified project Ajax has coordinated with DCPS.
CURRENT STATUS (5/1/12):
Phase 1 - Modular Campus
The Modular Campus is complete and Occupied.
Phase 2 – New Construction
The New Construction: Cafeteria, Field House and CEP. The process to start-up the chillers has begun. The western end of the Field House roof has been constructed and the building will be completely dried-in by the first week in May. Finishes have begun in both the Cafeteria and Field House. Final connections were made for the site potable water, fire mains and gravity sewer. Utility certifications with the appropriate jurisdictional agencies will be completed within the next month.
Phase 3 – Building 1 Renovation
Demolition of the existing, historic three-story building is as far as it can go until the new cafeteria is complete. Construction within the existing three-story building is ongoing with framing continuing on all 3 floors. MEP rough-ins are ongoing on all three (3) floors.
