Ajax breaks ground on Daytona Beach Police Station.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Ajax Building Corporation has contracted with the City of Daytona Beach, Florida to construct the new, $22 million Daytona Beach Police Facility.The existing facility was built in 1960 and has been added on to several times during the years to accommodate the growing community and police force.
This new facility will encompass a 3-story, 98,000 S.F. building framed with structural steel, encased with masonry and Architectural Pre-Cast Concrete walls, located on 27.50 acres of property at the Southeast corner of Mason Ave. and Williamson Blvd.
The roofing will include Modified Bitumen Membrane with some areas of Concrete Roof Tile. Parking will provide for 61 Public Spaces and 341 Spaces designated for Police. Interior work will include masonry and metal-framed walls with Drywall, Acoustical Ceiling, Ceramic Tile and Carpet floor covering.
CURRENT STATUS (5/1/08):
The structure aspects for the building are 100% complete. Pre-Cast Panel installation, metal truss are complete The brick work for the building is nearing 99% completion overall with the remaining areas being the north entrance.
All interior work continues, the 1st floor Mechanical, Plumbing, Drywall & Fire Protection is 99% complete. The 2nd floor is approximately 80% complete w/ the MEPF & drywall work. The 3rd floor work continues w/ all trades.
The vehicle/processing areas have started drywall, priming and first coat(s) of finish paint on CMU walls.
Window frames are complete on the third floor and are 60% complete on the first floor, glazing to follow.
Exterior work for Sidewalks should begin in June 2008.
This project remains in budget and is on schedule.
