Ajax breaks ground on Daytona Beach Police Station.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Ajax Building Corporation has contracted with the City of Daytona Beach, Florida to construct the new, $22 million Daytona Beach Police Facility.The existing facility was built in 1960 and has been added on to several times during the years to accommodate the growing community and police force.
This new facility will encompass a 3-story, 98,000 S.F. building framed with structural steel, encased with masonry and Architectural Pre-Cast Concrete walls, located on 27.50 acres of property at the Southeast corner of Mason Ave. and Williamson Blvd.
The roofing will include Modified Bitumen Membrane with some areas of Concrete Roof Tile. Parking will provide for 61 Public Spaces and 341 Spaces designated for Police. Interior work will include masonry and metal-framed walls with Drywall, Acoustical Ceiling, Ceramic Tile and Carpet floor covering.
CURRENT STATUS (7/1/08):
All building structure aspects for the building are 100% complete.
The arched window frames are fabricated and to start installation this week, in addition to Elevator #2, and the roof flashing. Elevator #1 is complete less finishes.
Ceiling grid continues being installed on the first & second floor and
drywall is 98% complete on the third floor less finishing.
Ceramic tile work has commenced in the lab, main corridors and will start soon in the restrooms.
Permanent Electric power to the building is complete, and will be energized early in July.
This project remains in budget and is on schedule.
