PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Located in Macclenny, Florida just north of downtown, the Sheriff’s Complex consists of three (3) major structures (Administration plus two (2) Confinement Buildings) and one (1) secondary structure (Fleet Maintenance). The Project will require the development of approximately 25 acres out of a larger 91 acre parcel. Underground Utilities will include a Sanitary Lift Station and a complete storm water control system with pond.
The Administration Building (+/- 60,000 square feet) will house the Sheriff’s Department, the Baker County Jail Administration function, the County EOC (Emergency Operations Center), and the Baker County 911 call center. The Jail Administration area will include an enclosed Sally Port, Booking and Receiving, a full service kitchen, a laundry, a medical and dental area, records, Video Visitation, inmate property storage, commissary and a “first appearance” court room for the INS.
The Confinement Buildings will house 256 inmates each with one half of the cells being two man cells and the other half being four man cells. Video Visitation stations will be provided in each dayroom. There is a central control room in each building at the second level and from there the guards will have control over the lights, door locks, and security camera systems. This facility provides for an indoor recreation area between the dayrooms and each Confinement Building is connected to the Administration Building via secure corridor.
The Administration Building has a Tiltwall exterior with a hollow core concrete roof with a single ply roof membrane. Interior spaces are a combination of load bearing masonry and drywall partitions.
The Confinement Buildings will be Pre-engineered Metal structures with Precast Concrete cells free standing inside. The exterior will be metal panels above a Cast in place concrete knee wall. There will be a secure fenced perimeter around these complete with razor ribbon and cameras.
The Connecting Corridor will be Slab on Grade with Tiltwall walls and Hollow core roof.
The Fleet Maintenance Building will be a Pre-engineered metal building with cmu masonry interior partitions. Facilities will include vehicle lifts, service pits and fuel pumps along with various misc. vehicle service/machine shop equipment.
CURRENT STATUS:
Clearing and grubbing of the building areas, storm water retention area, parking areas and the entrance road are complete. The building pads of the administration building and housing pods are complete. Import fill is ongoing for the two future housing pod building pads. Excavation of the retention pond has commenced with suitable fill utilized as fill for the parking areas. Concrete foundation work in the administration building and housing pod #1 has commenced.
